Beers of the Put Foot Rally

As I’m sure are most of the Put Footers in 2012, I am an avid lover of foreign beer! And as a loyal SAB employee, and Put Foot veteran, I thought it would be fitting to point out to you all the excellence, nay, the extraordinary beer en route Africa’s greatest rally. Let’s start big!

Smoking Thunder! A country filled with barley and hops and the great taste of Mosi. Nothing could be more rewarding than sipping on “Mosi-oa-Tunya” – the smoke that thunders, after an exhilarating bungee jump, micro-light flight, mad white water rafting, or the long straight road that brought us there. Cheers!
Prost en Nostrovia! I’m not going to waste my time with their “Capital Water”, but man we are going to love the smooth taste of Tafel Lager in Namibia. A couple of ellies, rhinos, and a lion or two at the water hole will be nothing short of magic.

The Pride of Malawi! At 3.7% this beer won’t light bon fires all night, but it’s definitely distinctive. Alternately, I see some fellow put footers enjoying some of Malawi’s dark gin, unfiltered, uncultured…perfect!

Give that man a LION! Oh yes! Our little visit of Zim means we get to enjoy our old friend Lion Lager once again. It wouldn’t be right if we didn’t cheers a Dutchman or two with the sweet taste of old South Africa, so “Goud van Kleur, Ryk aan Geur!”

Vilanculo Villainy! Man, now here we’re in for a treat! Blonde and dark Laurentina, Manica, and of course my favourite, 2M! There’s not much that can match an old 500ml returnable bottle 2M in ones hand while strolling across the white, dhow stricken sands of Vilanculos.

Although these next two gems are pretty hard to find outside East Africa, you’re bound to find one or two hiding in an old shanty pub in the middle of nowhere. A Nile on the Nile, and a Kilimanjaro with the hyenas…man Africa has some of the finest.

Here’s to you, here’s to me, and here’s to a dam bloody fine Put Foot Rally!

The Buggers,
Keeping it Silly
