The road goes on forever... the party never ends...

Everyday I see a few more crews fully paid up for Put Foot Rally 2012, and to say the least, we are very excitefaced about the up coming adventure part II. Today I found a very cool summary of the SillyBuggers travels on the inaugral rally. Thanks Mr D for hitting the nail on the head!  Here it is...

"The Put Foot Rally in 2011 proved that Africa is no longer the 'undeveloped continent', that great big 4x4's are no longer required to travel into the African bush and that those in search of an 'African Experience' need not spend a fortune in finding it.

We get a lot of emails asking for a route, the costs, what car,do we need to bribe anyone.. and so on. So we decided to showcase 3 legends... their story should put to rest all those nerves.
The Silly Buggers (Jared, Fish & Nick) are 3 white-collar Johannesburg city-slickers who before the rally couldn't change a spare tyre between them. They heard about the Put Foot Rally and in the space of 6 month these champions went from Jo'burg --> around Southern Africa--> and back to Jo'burg without as much as spilling a single beer.. well... sort of! Here is their story:

PFR HQ receives an email on 2 March 2011 notifying of impending awesomeness after a Datsun 120Y had been purchased:

A dull red wagon Will Farrell would surely have called 'The Red Dragon" = R9000
Jared & Nick stripped it down and began a full rebuilt = R4000
Orange spray job donated, some 'Dukes of Hazard' inspired stickers & wheels polish.
With the wheels polished and then it was time to start fund raising.
Fish learnt to change a spare tyre... (R5000 worth of time wasted)
A surfboard, a tent, a bag of cloths and a spare wheel was packed... (R100)
It was the time for the first ever Put Foot Rally...

Namibia they arrived in a cloud of dust, gifted tons of young kids with their first pair of shoes! Next was Etosha Park... then off to Botswana and Zambia for a spot of White River Rafting followed by a vehicle parade through the streets of Livingstone to another school and shoes drop.

Next was Malawi, a Mad Hatters Party, sleeping on the beach, Nick needed a boskak, and it was off to Mozambique and then Swaziland for the finish!

Moral of the story: Simply that it's not as hard as you may think...
The Put Foot Rally = PRICELESS ??

The Silly Buggers are back in 2012! .. we salute you!" - Daryn Hillhouse (Mountainshak Adventures)
